Urgent Reminder

This is just a reminder that the 2018 membership dues should be paid soon.
Your 2017  membership has expired.  Your Key Fob will be deactivated
on March 1/18.  Avoid having to pay a $25 reactivation fee by renewing your
membership now.  This can be done over the website via PayPal, or by
contacting TSF executive members such as Allen Herbst (223-3459) or
Morgan Rockenbach (222-2409) or Bloyce Coles (380-3551).  One of us
will arrange to update your membership.
We very much appreciate your patronage, but we need paid up members to
be able to do all that must be done at our Range.  Please cooperate.

Notice to Members

Members renewing for 2018 who are in possession of deactivated FOBS
will need to return those FOBS to the MD of Taber office in exchange
for a new FOB.
MD of Taber staff will ask to see your 2018 membership
card before the FOB exchange is made, so please be sure to have the 2018
card with you.
A 2018 membership card will be issued by TSF as soon as
the renewal fee of $125 is received from the member.
FOBS were
deactivated after 2017-02-28 if a 2017 membership was not purchased
by that date.

Important Notice To All TSF Members

As you are already aware, the Taber Sport Shooting Complex is BOOMING with activity.  With the incredible amount of growth to date, as well as plans for the 2018 season, we find ourselves needing to appeal to the TSF membership to take on a more ACTIVE ROLE in the operation of our Range.  We, the TSF Executive, have identified a couple of areas where we need to establish a committee to provide the following services:
FUNDRAISING/GRANT APPLICATION COMMITTEE:
Currently, we are struggling with the task of acquiring Funds from sources outside the regular membership fees.  In order to move ahead with major projects, such as the completion of the Skeet/Trap Range, or the Training and Resource Center, this Committee, (hopefully composed of at least 3 TSF members), would coordinate any Raffles as well as research and apply for any Community Grant programs.  There is also a market for Corporate Sponsorship from various business enterprises that are involved with Shooting Sports and would pay to post their advertising on our Range and Website.  Initially, there would be a fair amount of effort required to get organized, but afterwards it would be very routine.  We already have a Template for many Grant Programs to assist this committee.
MAINTENANCE/CONSTRUCTION COMMITTEE:
With the increased development and activity on the Range, there is a greater need for regular maintenance and minor construction to be done.  Simple things, like emptying garbage bins, replacing shot out target boards, etc. need to be done to keep our Range in prime operational condition.  MAJOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS would be contracted out, such as the shelters on the 600m and 200m ranges.  What we need is a small committee of 2 or 3 members who would periodically check out the Range and arrange any MINOR repairs/maintenance that need to be done.  We would expect each of the Shooting Sports (such as Cowboy Action, IPSC, etc) to take a turn on a monthly schedule to complete their assigned tasks.
YOUTH SPORT SHOOTING LEAGUE:
The future of all our shooting sports is dependent upon us to bring the Youth of our community into the safe and ethical participation of the various shooting sports out there.  The TSF very much wants to see this happen.  Once again, we need adult leaders to undertake this activity.  We have many resources available to assist and promote this venture.  It only takes the parents of these youngsters to make this happen.
No Doubt you could identify other areas where the TSF Sport Shooting Complex could grow.  All this will happen in the future, if the membership is PROACTIVE and uses their time and talent to provide the necessary initiative to carry forward.  Your Executive cannot do this alone.  We (the Executive) will do anything in our power to provide interested parties with the Ways and Means to achieve their goals.
You may contact either Morgan Rockenbach (403 222 2409) or Allen Herbst (403 223 3459) to express you willingness to be part of these essential committees.  An organizational meeting will be planned for sometime in the Spring, if sufficient response is received.

IMPORTANT Deadline Oct 30 for delinquent memberships

It has come to the attention of the Taber Shooting Foundation that numerous individuals have not renewed their memberships for 2017 with the TSF (MD Taber Sport Shooting Complex).  Many of these individuals are in possession of a Gate Fob.  Without a current paid up membership, any use of a  Gate Fob would be contrary to TSF Policy and thus constitute a Trespass and illegal entry to the range.  A paid up membership is required in order to fulfill the terms of our Insurance Provider and TSF Policies.  Any unauthorized access could put the TSF operating licence at risk.

With this in mind, on October 30 2017 the TSF will deactivate all Gate Fobs registered to those individuals that have not renewed for 2017 prior to OCTOBER 30, 2017.  After a fob is deactivated it will incur an additional $25 charge to have it reactivated (payable at time of membership renewal).

If you renew your membership prior to October 30 and have not used the range at all in 2017 we will forgive your arrears and approve your membership including 2018.  If you have accessed the TSF Range any time during 2017 while your membership was expired (according to the gate fob digital records) we would ask that you pay for your 2017 membership fee as well in good conscience.  If you have a Gate Fob, and do not wish to keep it, you may return it to the MD Taber office before October 30 and you will be refunded your $25 deposit.

The TSF success will only happen with the cooperation of its members.  The volunteers who make up your executive and directors work hard to ensure the Range grows and is developed to the enjoyment of its membership.  Asking members to keep their memberships up to date is not too much to expect.  We must comply with the TSF Policies and the Requirements of the RCMP Chief Firearms Office and our Insurance Providers.  Individuals must comply with this or lose their member privileges.

TAKE NOTE:  Any 2018 memberships that are not renewed by the last day of February 2018, will automatically have their Gate Fobs deactivated, and a $25 reactivation fee will be charged at time of renewal afterwards.  Renewals can be done via the website (PayPal) or by contacting a TSF executive member.

Vehicle traffic damaging the ranges

Please DO NOT drive on the ranges with vehicles until further notice… there are deep ruts being created by vehicle traffic and things are quite soft out there.

Thank you for your cooperation in protecting our range from damage! We are working to mitigate this somehow, possibly using some of the gravel that we have out there east of the Training and Resource Centre (formerly known as the “clubhouse”), but in the meantime it’s just too soft.

Firing Line Shelter Construction Sept 12th

https://guestlistapp.com/events/340455
We need approximately 20 people on Saturday, September 12th at 8:00 am.

Peter King (owner of PK Construction) has generously agreed to supervise the construction of the 100 Metre Range firing line shelter if the TSF can gather up to 20 TSF members (or anyone else who may be interested) who will commit to helping with the project that day.  If we can get enough committed people the shelter could be completed in one day.

It’s important (and very much appreciated) for those that are around Taber and available that day to help if they can.

Please register at https://guestlistapp.com/events/340455

Happy shooting!
